| Summary: | The purpose of this dataset is for teaching about narrative research and the process of content coding and analysing transcribed, original stories. Dr. Robyn M. Holmes from Monmouth University's Department of Psychology provides this raw material. She extracted it from the original, creative stories of 4- to 5-year-old participants attending nursery school in the Northeastern United States. She and her students collected this material between Spring 2017 and Fall 2018. This example focuses on the stories young children imaginatively created. It highlights the value of using narratives to examine how young children think about, organize, relate to, interpret, and make meaning of their lived realities. It will be most beneficial and of interest to those interested in narrative research and learning how to content code and analyse transcribed raw material such as stories, interviews, life histories, autobiographies, and open-ended survey questions. The dataset files are accompanied by a Teaching Guide and a Student Guide. |
