| Summary: | The webinar--an online-based education platform--shows promise in this initial research as being an effective intervention for educating about and reducing stigma. In this case study, we explore the development and implementation of several webinar studies designed to reduce stigma among the general public and mental health professionals. Specifically, we explore the use of the Transgender Awareness Webinar, an intervention to reduce transphobia toward gender-diverse populations among the public and mental health providers. We also present the Stigma Awareness Webinar, designed to diminish public stigma toward people with serious mental illness. These studies establish a base of research on the effectiveness of webinar-based education in reducing stigma and hold applications for reducing oppression toward other marginalized populations across a range of professional and public groups. |
