Summary:	This dataset is designed for teaching the analysis of visual discourse data, including photographs, video, artwork, or other visual-material artefacts that represent ways of thinking or meaning making. These data are provided by Dr. Karen C. Lloyd and were collected as part of Dr. Lloyd's doctoral research at the University of California, San Francisco. These data were drawn from a multi-sited qualitative study that explored the professional discourses of "HIV treatment as prevention," which is a biomedical HIV prevention approach that emphasises the use of pharmaceuticals to prevent transmission of HIV. Data were collected via qualitative interviews with HIV professionals, ethnographic fieldwork conducted at scientific conferences, and through the examination of textual, material, and visual discourses drawn from a variety of sources. The data presented in what follows were drawn from HIV prevention documents collected during ethnographic fieldwork. The aim of this dataset is to demonstrate how visual data can be integrated into the use of grounded theory methods through situational analysis (Clarke, 2005). The dataset files are accompanied by a Teaching Guide and a Student Guide.
