Summary:Carolyn Ellis (b. 1950) is an American sociologist who, since 1981, has worked in the Departments of Sociology and Communication at the University of South Florida. In 2014, she was awarded a Distinguished University Professorship at that institution. Since the 1990s, Ellis has been principally concerned with developing and using autoethnographical approaches and has come to be associated with a distinctive narrative style in both her research and methodological writings.
