Summary:This case study is based on doctoral research of the first author that aimed to identify ways to enhance participation of individuals with deafblindness. This study used a qualitative research approach where data were collected using in-depth semi-structured interviews with 16 adults with deafblindness. Various accessible formats and diverse modes of communication were used to collect data. This case study explains the challenges in qualitative research with people with deafblindness and how those challenges were addressed to ensure participants in this study were actively contributing to the research process. This case study also provides an insight into the practicalities of how this qualitative study was carried out and suggests tips for novice researchers in the field of sensory impairment.
