Summary:This case study examines the challenges and coping strategies of conducting fieldwork, with a particular focus on interviewing, by using my research project on Chinás Performance Evaluation System as an example. Specifically, this case study discusses the following major issues: where to look for interviews, how to obtain access to interviewees, encountering failures and learning from them, adapting to changing political environment and cultural norms in fieldwork country, and maintaining relationships with local contacts.
