Description
Summary:This case study provides an overview of my experience of including drawings as a data collection method in interviews and observations in school-based health research. The research presented was conducted within my PhD which focused on implementation of the World Health Organisation Health Promoting Schools (HPS) framework in secondary schools in Victoria, Australia. In particular, I was focused on secondary school experiences of implementing a voluntary government policy based on the HPS framework, the Achievement Program policy. This case study provides an overview of this research before detailing my decision-making processes in designing the research to include drawings. The case study explores some of the key literature I drew upon in planning the research and offers key considerations for inclusion of drawings and other visual research methods. It is hoped that this case study may be used to help guide novice researchers in their consideration of incorporating drawings in their school-based health research.
