Description
Summary:This dataset offers an example of analysing qualitative survey data using grounded theory, specifically the constant comparative method. The data are provided by Dr. Lata Murti, Associate Professor of Sociology at Brandman University and Dr. Sheila L. Steinberg, Professor of Social and Environmental Sciences at Brandman University. The data are taken from two surveys of undergraduate students who completed Brandman University's fully online course on globalization. The first survey was distributed in 2016 as well as in the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 trimesters. The second survey was distributed during the Summer 2018 trimester. This example will be most useful for researchers interested in analysing qualitative survey data with an aim of evaluating and improving online college courses in the social sciences. The dataset file is accompanied by a Teaching Guide and a Student Guide.
