| Summary: | This case discusses and illustrates by specific examples the experience of using a case-study approach to research the lived experience of individuals who grew up in Ultra-Orthodox Jewish communities and opted to leave. I describe the phases in the process from the preliminary idea, through choosing a conceptual framework to guide me and a methodological strategy to carry out the study. Then, I discuss challenges that I encountered and strategies that I used to address these challenges. I present considerations that informed my choices at pivotal points of the journey, what they meant, and what was their "price." Finally, I reflect on what I would have done differently if I could go back to the starting point. |
