Description
Summary:This case describes the research process for a longitudinal case study that examines learning processes among a group of psychoanalysts who developed a method for treating infants and mothers psychoanalytically. During the research process, I encountered several dilemmas that made me reflect on and finally change the purpose of the study and the theories used to analyze the data. The research process is described in three phases: an explorative phase, a turning point and a theorizing phase. Ethical considerations in relation to the research process are also described, as well as how these considerations had an effect on the purpose of the study, the theory used, and the analysis of the data. The case highlights the importance of continuously reflecting on the process of research and being open to change when necessary.
