Summary:	The case presents trauma-focused psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder outcomes study. The study was planned as a randomized controlled trial to test the efficacy of the Brief Eclectic Psychotherapy for PTSD in a new country. Practical issues associated with trauma-focused psychotherapy study planning which involve ethical requirements, participant recruitment and assessment, therapy delivery, and outcomes evaluation are explained in this case. The study faced several challenges, such as the application of manualized treatment for trauma survivors and the psychological effects of participants' traumatic histories on research team members. Several lessons learned from the study are presented. The case informs about the importance of resources, in particular having a research team and efficient project manager to successfully conduct a treatment outcome study. Trauma-focused psychotherapy outcome studies should focus not only on PTSD symptoms but also evaluate the effects of therapy on well-being and quality of life. Supervisions of researchers are important to ensure adherence to the treatment manual and deal with secondary traumatization of staff who conducts trauma-focused psychotherapy research.
