| Summary: | Policy impact studies are not new in the field of social science research, and research strategy plays an important role. In this study, I chose a case-oriented qualitative research strategy to evaluate the mechanisms of the Local Government (Union Parishad) Act of 2009 in Bangladesh. The basic unit of analysis is the lowest administrative tier of Bangladesh, that is, the Union Parishad (Council), because the Act was enacted to strengthen the Union Parishad. This writing showed how identification of variables and measurement of indicators are necessary for designing research from the outset and for outlining data collection tools and techniques. In this piece of case study, I discuss the benefits of case study research strategy. I also discuss issues like data triangulation, mixed tools for data collection, internal and external validity of the research design, data collection protocols, reliability of data, and ethical considerations for the researchers. As the research strategy was helpful for addressing the research questions, I claimed that case-oriented qualitative research study is helpful for impact study. |
