| Summary: | This case study gives an overview about an interdisciplinary, multi-method PhD project in which I studied the mutual relationships between news media and the stock market from various research perspectives. Within three years of research, I conducted six empirical studies with unique datasets that combined qualitative and quantitative research methods both within and across studies. Theoretically and methodologically, the studies are grounded in the field of economics and communication science. Recapitulating the process of the research project, this case study reports on the unique research designs of each study, the methods employed, research practicalities as well as the challenges faced, and the lessons learned. In terms of methodologies, this case study covers interview and survey studies, content analyses (automated and manual) as well as time-series analyses and network analyses. |
