Description
Summary:Classic approaches to automotive humanmachine interface assessment are resource consuming. A closer look at the interface layout and internal menu structure may, in some instances, be as informative about the system's flaws as adopting more comprehensive experimental frameworks. Here, we outline an innovative approach to automotive interface usability assessment to be used by automotive manufacturers in the early stage of development or for benchmarking purposes. Grounded within the visual search task paradigm, this approach focuses on the interface layout and internal menu structure to provide user-independent usability scores.
