Written in a characteristically fragmentary style it contains non-chronological, selective reminiscences, from childhood to age 60. Piozzi, literary hostess in the circle of Samuel Johnson, was also a member of the Bluestockings and knew James Boswell, Fanny Burney, Elizabeth Montagu and Ann Finch.
