The collection is located at Jack K. Williams Library. The Maritime Human Factors Database Project was run by Cathy L.P. Palmer from GBIC. The purpose of this project was to develop bibliographic and informational electronic resources supporting maritime human factors research by the federal and state maritime academies of the United States, with the goal of better serving a dynamic maritime industry. Human factors considerations of interest encompass all aspects of human operations in the maritime transportation system such as recruitment, education, training, licensing, skills and task analysis, organizational relationships, work hours and overtime policies, traditional ergonomics and design issues,automation, system reliability and safety, hiring practices, physical requirements, and other related issues.
