| Summary: | The papers in this collection contain memorabilia and background information on the Titanic. They also include a printout of Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan, a novella written in 1898 with uncanny similarities to the wreck of the Titanic. The full collection also contains 170 Titanic-related books (non-fiction and fiction), calendars, wall charts, paper models, videos, music, and software was donated to the library in June 2005 by Mr. Anderson. The collection has been cataloged and is a part of the library's Special Collections. Mr. Anderson collected these materials during the course of writing his book, The Titanic in Print and on Screen published by McFarland in 2005. The collection contains materials which not only discuss the disaster, but also the building of the ship and her sister ships; interviews with survivors including crew, memoirs, séances and numerous documentaries. The materials date from 1975-2005. Mr. Anderson' business card, found in the collection, identifies him as a "journalist, film critic, lifeguard, musician and rock climbing instructor" residing in Houston. |
