Description
Summary:"The aim of the proposed text is to provide readers with insights into the workings of psychologists working as expert witnesses across a range of judicial settings including criminal, civil, and family courts, Parole Board hearings, mental health review tribunals, disciplinary committee and clinical negligence. Each chapter will begin wih a vignette of a case taken from letters of instructions, across different aspects of court work. This would cover a case going from instruction to reporting to debating with opposing experts and attending court. The author will describe how they would go about completing an assessment of the vignette, theories and assessment tools they would use, issues they would focus on in the assessment, how they developed differential hypotheses in order to explain the presenting problem, or, how they would answer questions raised in instructions. Authors will be encouraged to choose cases where they have been involved throughout the whole process, from recieving instructions, to assessment, and giving evidence in court on that case. Authors will be selected based on their experience and reputation as an expert witness or a member of the legal profession working within the judicial system. In order to attract an international audience, case examples will focus on the role of the expert as opposed to specific legal systems and frameworks"--
