Description
Summary:While the field of integrated STEM is still relatively new, several schools and teacher preparation programs have increased their focus on integrated STEM education, which is defined as using multiple STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and math) to collaboratively solve real-world problems with the ultimate goal of increasing students' STEM literacy. Elementary teachers often find Integrated STEM instruction a good fit, as multi-subject teachers they have the opportunity to blend subjects into projects and instruction that highlight the connections among them in real-world ways. In many cases, particularly in schools with a project-based learning focus and those who offer STEM enrichment, teachers are being encouraged to take a multidisciplinary STEM approach to their instruction, but many may not be aware of what high-quality STEM experiences look like, sound like, or feel like in the classroom. This book is designed for elementary teachers, coaches and instructional leaders who are integrating two or more STEM content areas into their lessons. The book has two main purposes.
