| Abstract: | The objective of this project was to design, construct and use a reflectron with a ²⁵²Cf plasma desorption mass spectrometer. In order to obtain the best results from the instrument, theoretical calculations of the effects of various variables were performed prior to assembly. These calculations include determining the optimum voltages and geometries. Also studied in theory, were the effects of various parameters which might decrease instrument performance. |
