| Abstract: | Six sample sites were chosen from over 20 sites located on Biliran and Leyte islands in the central Philippines to determine whether or not rotations associated with either a collision between the Palawan continental terrane and the Philippine Archepelago or fault movement along the Philippine Fault had occurred. Sample analysis using a normalized sample magnetization as a function of demagnetizing field strength graph and a Zijderfeld diagram indicated that the samples were demagnetizing properly. Older sites, JL-71 and JB-37 showed clockwise rotation associated with an island arc collision, while younger samples, JB-17, JB-3, and possibly JL-26 indicated counterclockwise rotation in agreement with fault-related rotations. |
