Description
Abstract:Rats were sacrificed on days 19, 20, and 21 of pregnancy. Peripheral maternal blood and fetal blood were collected. Deoxycorticosterone (DOC) was tentatively identified using Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and radioimmunoassay. Mean levels of roc were 5. 37, 3. 74, and 5. 91 ng/ml in the rnaternal peripheral blood on days 19, 20, and 21 respectively. Levels of DOC in the fetuses were 3.90 and 1. 44 ng/ml on days 20 and 21 respectively. Evidence is also presented that suggests that DOC is being secreted in an episodic manner.
