Description
Abstract:Cesium selectivity (kg) exponentially increased as Cs saturation decreased in the <0.2μm clay fraction and possibly in the 2-0.2μm clay and 20-2μm silt fractions of the lignite associated shale. The <0.2μm clay fraction had a high selectivity up to about 10% Cs saturation. Larger particle sizes had the highest selectivity. The total number of Cs ions fixed was higher in the smaller size fractions. Additional analyses must be performed to accurately determine the mineralogical composition of the shale and the ultimate disposition of the Cs ions introduced into the mineral system.
