At every turn, Johnny and his tiny secret colliery face ruinous discovery from prying allotment tenants, retired never-off-duty police officers, blabbing veteran miners, a stalking coal merchant and a band of militant climate activists. Can Johnny resurrect coal mining in his community without the whole world and his dog knowing, and without igniting mayhem reminiscent of the 1984-85 Miners' Strike? Social comment underlies the humor in this satirical debut novel from a former Welsh miner.
