"The Director of Wool Research, Dr. J. E. Duerden, and Mr. Victor Bosman, Research Assistant, working at Rhodes University College and at the Grootfontein School of Agriculture, have recently completed a double system of standardization of South African wools. It is an attempt to give fixity and precision to the various qualities of wool, and to show how far the usual wool estimation by the crimps is a reliable guide to fibre thickness and quality. The study is based upon the two important characters, crimping and fibre thickness, and is of such a character that the results from one method can be tested by those from the other."
