| Summary: | In this book, a total of 46 tablets, 35 of which were found during illegal excavations in Maras, were sold to the Ankara Anatolian Civilizations Museum, 5 to the Kahramanmaras Archeology Museum, 3 to the Erimtan Archeology and Art Museum, 2 to the Gaziantep Archeology Museum, and one in the possession of antique dealers, are included. Unfortunately, the location of the tablets could not be determined during the on-site research carried out by the authors of the book themselves. It contains debt bills, court records and contracts regarding the sale of slaves, fields and gardens, belonging to private archives dating back to the end of the Neo-Assyrian Period. The remarkable point in these texts is that Marqasi, which stands for Maras in Neo-Assyrian documents of Mesopotamian origin, is encountered with a new pronunciation as "Margasti". -- (Translated via Google from vendor description) |
