Originally published in monthly numbers, 1786-1790. 90 engraved plates including title page, many by Charles Taylor, John Ogborne and William Nutter, most after Samuel Shelley. Various parts, some numbered in roman numerals, bound out of order. On the verso of the contents list: "Gentlemen may bind any numbers together to make a volume, and in any order they please." Vignette on title page of a globe with large star in the middle centre surrounded by smaller stars, and the motto "Inter omnes." The Cushing Library/Rare Books copy was acquired as part of the Lois Goddard Morrison Collection of Eighteenth Century Literature. |
