Original printed wrappers with a vignette of a cavalryman and his horse. Edges untrimmed. Traces of damp throughout, not affecting the quality of the text or lithographs which were printed on strong, thick paper. Preserved in mylar sleeve and protective case. Humane methods for the proper design and application of bits, with diagrams of an improved, more humane bit created by this Spanish expatriate. The text includes letters of praise from Jules Pellier, I. Mathieu, M. Franconi, Vicomte D'Aure, the Duc De Polignac etc. Segundo's bit was designed to allow the horse to feed without being unbridled. Additionally, there is a special section for cavalrymen, with advice on helping the horse obtain a more natural gait. The author divides horses into six classes according to the types of jaws and mouths. After having enumerated the maladies which the horses contract by the improper bits that have been applied to them, he offers treatments and advice on the manner of placing the bits.
