Summary:Collection of field orders, briefing materials, cover memos and maps issued to the 64th Airdrome Squadron by the IX Tactical Air Command of the 9th Air Force, pertaining to the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 (D-Day). Most are "secret" and "confidential", marked with versions of "Top Secret -- Neptune -- BIGOT" (BIGOT was used to designate the highest level of military security classification). One is marked "Top Secret Overlord BIGOT" the codename for the overall plan for the invasion and the subsequent Battle of Normandy. Most printed in the weeks before D-Day and issued to senior officers of 64th Airdrome Squadron, which played a vital role in the construction of airfields and advance landing grounds across Western Europe during the last year of the war. Mostly mimeograph typescripts with some ms additions in ink.
