The special resources for 6G, including millimeter wave, terahertz, visible light communications, and optical wireless communications are covered, as is a presentation of new air interface technologies including ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output (massive-MIMO), cell-free massive MIMO, orthogonal and non-orthogonal multiple access, and intelligent reflecting surface. Moving to the system and network levels, new networking technologies for 6G including non-terrestrial networks, softwarization and virtualization, RAN slicing, open RAN, and autonomous network management are examined, whilst the book concludes with a look at all new paradigms in 6G, such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, communication-computing-sensing convergence, and post-quantum security and privacy.
