| Summary: | These proceedings examine trenchless technologies as they relate to pipeline infrastructure including crossing, location and installation, research, and planning and design. Topics that apply to new pipeline installations and rehabilitation of existing pipelines are discussed. Incorporating microtunnels into the design of pipeline networks is discussed, as well as trenchless applications to rehabilitate sanitary, storm, and combined sewers of various types and sizes. Also covered are the benefits of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) for short drilled lengths of pipeline and experimental methods for water main replacement including pipe bursting, a cured-in-place pressure rated lining system, directional bore, and slip lining. In addition, papers address subsurface utility engineering; condition assessment of sewer systems; pipe jacking; project profitability; new technology for enhanced pipeline evaluation; structural rehabilitation of rigid pipes; and engineering a challenging trenchless utility crossing. |
