New Treasure Island and the beginning of the Modern Manga Era Originally titled Shin Takarajima(Japanese) or as we know it, New Treasure Island(English) is a Japanese manga by Sakai Shichima and Osamu Tezuka that was serialized in 1947. It is the first of Tezuka's manga to be published in tankōbon form. The series is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 novel Treasure Island. When the series was collected and published as a tankōbon, it would quickly sell over 400,000 copies. |
