Item Description:	In fact an original English work by Daniel Defoe. Sig. D2 is cancelled and catchword: done. Variant: catchword on recto of sig. D2: acted. "To support the claim that the book was a genuine translation from the French of Mesnager, an alternative titlepage was printed: 'Minutes of the negotiation [sic] of Monsr. Mesnager at the court of England. . Antwerp, printed for Jean van Borscelen. 1717.' . One title or the other was meant to be cancelled" (Moore). Pages 209, 230, 231, 234, 235, 238 and 239 misnumbered 109, 300, 301, 304, 305, 308 and 309. The Cushing Library/Rare Books copy was acquired as part of the Lois Goddard Morrison Collection of Eighteenth Century Literature.
