| Item Description: | For <1936-July 1957>, name of venue may appear in title. During Sept. 1957, initial article is dropped and title appears as: Playbill. Distributed in theaters as programs, 1934- Subscriptions available for "opening night" programs of each Broadway and leading Off-Broadway play or for a monthly representative issue. Format of magazine has monthly feature changes while specific play information is published for duration of the play. Special features may be added only for a specific play. Edition statement first appears Dec. 31, 1961. The Cushing Library/Women & Gender Studies copies were acquired as part of The Don Kelly Research Collection of Gay Literature and Culture. The Cushing Library/Science Fiction copies of v.122:no.5 (2006:May) are signed by members of the cast of the musical Tarzan (music and lyrics by Phil Collins), including Josh Strickland who played the titular role, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, New York. |
