| Item Description: | No title on piece, alternate title is from the last private owner, John Wood. First four pages rubricated. Date derived from mention of this manuscript by George R. Keiser in his article "Medicines for horses: a medieval veterinary treatise" in Veterinary history (v.12:no.2, p.144) by dating the watermark as circa 1468. Original purchase slip by John G.P. Wood from Bernard Quaritch, Ltd. in 1976 in protective box. Manuscript is missing/lost as of 6/23/2026. The manuscript was taken to Evans for a Friends event in 2022 without its protective box; it had been on exhibit at MSL. After carefully boxing the entire Historical Veterinary Reference Collection, it was not found. Staff at Evans searched the conservation lab and it was not found. A condition report was written by UL Conservator Jeanne Goodman on 9/1/2021 that was to be presented as a funding opportunity to the Friends. It was also digitized at that time. A color copy of that digitization is in the protective box. |
