| Summary: | Michael Laird Rare Books description: Huge and very little-known 19th century equestrial atlas, illustrated with numerous examples of horse anatomy, osteology, myology, and angiology. The lithographs by G.F. Ferrero are of very high quality. We are unable to explain the fact that almost nothing is known about the author and the artist, particularly since the publication of the present volume was lavish, to say the least. Provenance: armorial bookplate of "Caroli Bourbon Montis Sanctae Mariae." This was Carlo Bourbon del Monte, 4th Prince of San Faustino, Marchese del Monte Santa Maria (1868-1917), by descent to Montion Bourbon del Monte, 6th Prince of San Faustino, Marchese del Monte Santa Maria (v. 1942). Near contemporary Italian quarter vellum over decorated paper boards.
