Plates preceded by transparent guard sheets. The committee was chaired by Lord Lovat; the Scientific Staff of the inquiry numbered 16 scientists, some of whom contributed essays. Edward A. Wilson , the physician, polar explorer, natural historian, painter and ornithologist, contributed both essays and illustrations. Wilson died the following year on Scott's ill-fated trip to Antarctica. |
