Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: Very rare title. It seems at first sight to be the same as ESTC T83866 (see below) but it is clearly slightly different with a reset title page and text pages (with different signature allocations). My copy was in original wrappers and it is clear the text block from the preface to the end is in one gathering, with the frontispiece and title page appearing to be a separate leaf, therefore the frontispiece is not a true plate. The frontispiece is dated 1774, and is of a jockey riding a horse facing right with 2 grooms following behind.
Item Description:Anonymous. By Henry Bracken.
Engraved frontispiece dated "Sept 8th 1774" and titled "Cheap at the Price"; glued to inside front cover.
Includes index on A2 verso.
Signatures: pi A¹⁸
Initial cypher plate pasted to title page verso (ELJ); black ink stamp (Edw&L*Johnsons) between double rule and "Preface" on A1.
Contemporary marbled paper wrappers.
Physical Description:6 unnumbered pages, 32 pages, plate : illustrations ; 12cm
