| Summary: | Niall Kenny description: It is clear from the Edinburgh copy that the preliminary pages (π gathering) comprise 3 advert leaves for Vines' books plus a cancel title page. The main text and bulk of the preliminary pages are identical in all editions, with an appendix added to the 1833 and 1834 printings. The printer of the main text is as for the 1st edition being Gaulter, of Lovell's Court, Paternoster-Row; however the appendix was printed by G. Norman, 29, Maiden Lane, Covent Garden. The adverts leaves are: pi1 advert for the current book plus reviews; pi3 reviews of "Part the first of a Critical Enquiry"; pi4 title page of "Part the first of a Critical Enquiry" (dated 1833). These are separate leaves so can be bound anywhere in the book. Leaf pi1 is in the RVC copy. The portion "Remarks on Part the first of a Critical Enquiry", and the title page of "Part the first of a Critical Enquiry" are stuck in at the end of the Edinburgh copy. This edition seems very scarce; not in BL, Dingley, RCVS. Interestingly Texas A&M have a copy which has an aberrant date of 1830. All plates, plus page ix/x, are missing from the Edinburgh copy.
