| Summary: | Niall Kenny description: Each plate has the page number on the top right corner, to indicate where they should bound. Further printings in 1685, 1686 and 1687 but all identical to the 1st edition. Indeed the same watermarks are present on the text and plate paper in later printings, implying the title pages are simply cancel titles with the remainder of the book being unaltered. The watermarks are difficult to interpret but the bulk of the text has a crown surmounting a circular ruffle-like shape possibly enclosing a coat-of-arms with 2 fleur-de-lis and grapes, in turn surmounting a cross with the words "I. CONARD" below. One or two text leaves possibly have a slightly different text below, "DVAVE?GARD", but difficult to be sure. The plates have different water-marks, most being a crown surmounting a shield with a large fleur-de-lis, below which is a rhomboid and below that the initials "WR" conjoined, and below that in cursive script "AJ". A few plates simply have "AI" alone. ESTC collation incorrect as assume the portrait is a printed page (leaf A1) but it is clearly a plate. Leaf A1 is blank |
