Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: Good copy in original half calf, marbled boards, with embossed on spine "Presented by W. Youatt to the Vet. Med. Assoc."; pages 121-128 gives a copy of the prospectus of the RVC; rare true first edition of Surtees' first book; reprinted later that same year by Alfred Miller; copy ex RVC library; some debate as to which is the true first issue but it is possible that the Miller one may be, as a copy with that imprint is supposed to exist with an earlier date than 1831 but can find no copy of it, also the Butterworth printing seems far more scarce (no copy on COPAC); was also a very rare US imprint of 1832 (lot 576 in auction of Alfred B. Maclay library, New York, 1945).
