| Summary: | Niall Kenny description: The catchword at the bottom of p152 ("List") implies another leaf should be present but the collation is correct. This is because in the 1st edition a list of prices of medicines was given at this point but this page was re-set for this 1805 edition and bound in amongst the preliminary pages. A half title not called for in this edition. Pagination errors exactly as in the first edition. The introduction, main text and index in the 1805 printing is identical to that in the 1st edition of 1791; this is why the BL catalogue states the π leaves are cancel leaves. The 2nd edition of 1797 has a slightly different title, "The practical farrier; or, A treatise on all the diseases incident to that noble animal, the horse...". The frontispiece plate of the 3rd edition has the date removed from the plate when compared to the 1st edition. Interestingly the RVC copy has another plate of a horse but suspect extraneous, as not recorded anywhere else. |
