Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: The plate for the first edition has the imprint, and the date 1671, in the lower left hand corner. While the same plate block was used for subsequent editions this text was scratched off and around the same time two small circular blemishes appeared on the plate behind the hoof of the left hind leg. As such it is possible to distinguish the true 1st edition plate. As a result it is clear the plate in the Dingley copy is adventitious and clearly comes from a later printing (see picture on page 86 of Dingley and compare to picture page 40 of Mellon). Signature error: E3 given as 'E5'.
Item Description:Signatures: A-V⁸ (versos of A1,3 and possibly leaves V7 and 8 are blank).
