Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: Seems very scarce. The publisher (Charles Knight) published a large number of self-help guides, and this pamphlet was part of a series of 'Industrial Guide-Books' for 'the education of the industrial classes'. The details of these are included on the back wrapper of this item, but basically there were two groups of these pamphlets: "The Guide to Trade" and "The Guide to Service". The item here was included in the latter group under 'Farm Service', which also included 'Labourer', 'Shepherd' (copy in RVC), 'Carter', 'Ploughman', 'Bailiff' and 'Dairywomen' (copy in Camb?). The text discusses cattle breeds, their diseases and general management. Printer's imprint in main text: "Printed by A. Sweeting, Bartlett's Buildings, Holborn"; Printer's imprint on wrappers: "London: C. Knight and Co., 22, Ludgate Street."
Item Description:Publisher's advertisements first and last two pages with the first and fourth pasted to the wrapper.
