Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: Scarce in any form, especially with coloured plates; this is possibly a later re-issue of “A complete system of improved live stock and cattle management”. Both forms of the book seem identical except the plates are all dated (1822-24) in “A complete..”, whereas they are not in this printing. It is therefore possible that this book was published later. It is also confusing regarding the plates, in that D 220 has only 34 plates listed, as do the BL, Yale and RCVS copies; it is well known that the plate of the cow skeleton and viscera in volume 1 is combined onto one plate, but in this copy of volume 2 the plate on page 116 of breeds of horses is in fact 9 separate plates, and suspect this accounts for the discrepancy in plate numbers; interestingly all plates EXCEPT these 9 have the name of Thomas Kelly on; need to check this; this book was originally published in parts.
