Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: Seems rare; appears to lack two leaves but this is as issued, with the frontispiee and engraved title included in the pagination (see the discussion with "The pocket farrier, a treatise on the veterinary art"). There is a separate section title page, included in the pagination, for the text on parturient animals (p173/174). Also (as with "The pocket farrier...") there were two issues of this book, with the Derby imprint likely being the first issue. The second issue gives London as the pre-eminent imprint location, but the date is still 1844. As with all issues of "The pocket farrier..." and "The cow doctor..." the date only appears on the engraved title page.
Item Description:The additional title-page has the imprint: Derby. Thomas Richardson & Son, 1844.
