Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: Almost identical to ESTC T111980, which seems to be a later printing. The plate within the text is the ubiquitous tooth plate that was used as a frontispiece in numerous later editions and in the plagiarised "Taplin improved" books. The current book differs from the other plagiarised versions of Burdon in having an additional frontispiece (of a blacksmith medicating a horse). This seems only to be found in the versions printed by Bell (see below also); this printing also claims to be the 4th edition, which is spurious; interestingly this is the only version of any printing I have seen where the word 'befal' on the title page is spelt 'befall'; even more oddly it reverted to 'befal' in later editions (see below). Has an advert for the 3rd edition of "Ten minutes advice to every gentleman going to purchase a horse ...", thus giving us a clue to its date.
