Description
Summary:Niall Kenny description: There are 16 separate plates but they are given in full colour and outline (hence 32 plates). There was only one edition but 2 issues (both with separate ESTC numbers), as the copy in Dingley (271) and Mellon have the imprint ' ... and sold by G Nicol'. The issue here is far more scarce, but is assumed to be later as the copies examined have been in cloth bindings, which (though original) are unlikely to be from 1796 and were probably bound up early in the 1800s. Many copies with the imprint given here do not have coloured plates. The collation in the Mellon copy is very odd as it assumes that the text leaves are folio rather than quarto. Very scarce. Preface signed: "Fawley Court, Feb. 10th, 1796."
Item Description:Plates duplicated in outline, and accompanied by leaves of descriptive letterpress.
Physical Description:viii, 107 pages, 32 unnumbered leaves of plates (16 duplicated) ; 30 cm.
