Summary:Niall Kenny description of copy 5: Excellent as-new copy in green half morocco, green cloth, gilt emblem of RVC on front board; in slip case; this copy is a special production being one of six issued to recipients of honorary degrees at the bicentenary celebrations of the RVC; the copies issued were given to I: HRH Prince Philip, II: HM Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, III: HRH the Princes Royal, IV: Paul Mellon KBE, V: Henry Carter, VI: Prof William Jarrett. This is copy V (also marked as such on spine) was presented to Henry Carter MRCVS and is inscribed on the first leaf by the then Principal Lance Edward Lanyon. As well as being a renowned vet in his own right Henry Carter was also the husband of Valerie Carter, who edited this book. Indeed as Professor Cotchin died before publication she virtually re-wrote it; the first leaf with the limited edition statement is absent from the general issue copies.
