Description
Summary:The monograph presents an overview of the crimes of the Soviet Stalinist government in Ukraine in the years 1934-1938 seen through a unique perspective of the documents, reports and analyses of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish military intelligence. The book reflects what was known by the Polish civil and military authorities about the destruction of the Ukrainian countryside by the man-made Famine of 1932-33 (Holodomor) as well as the extent of the Communist Party purges and the Stalinist campaign of terror. The majority of the archival sources used in this monograph have not been studied by scholars in the past and some of these documents have been inaccessible. As a result, this book will be the first English-language study that will discuss the topic of the Stalinist crimes in Ukraine from this perspective.
